One of the names for God in the Bible is “the God of hope” (Romans 15:3). 1 Timothy 1:1 explains that Jesus Christ is our hope! In these hard times, God wants more than ever to be our comfort. In Ephesians 1:18, the Apostle Paul prays that God’s people would become aware of the awesome hope we have in Jesus. This hope is not wishful thinking, it is something substantial, real and guaranteed.
Jesus, God in the flesh, is our hope because He came to this earth and was crucified a sinless man on a cross at Calvary. Because of His sacrifice... because He suffered and willingly laid down His life unto death for us, we can be forgiven of our sins past, present, and future if we only put our faith in Him. We can do that today because Jesus not only provided atonement for sin by dying, He also conquered death itself and was raised to life again. He lives today and wants to know each one of us deeply. The Creator God of the universe wants to know us personally. Now this is hope! The Bible says, “if God be for us, who can be against us?” The truth is we are living through a battle in this life. The good news is we have God on our side. And once this life is over, we can have a guaranteed victory if we put our trust in Jesus Christ. That guaranteed victory is a life without pain, disaster, and the Bible goes as far as to say without tears; sounds heavenly because that’s where it is. Jesus Christ is the hope of glory!
The original Biblical language describes hope through a powerful image. The literal meaning of the word, hope, is the stretching of a rope. Hope is a sense that the slack is being pulled out. The rope is stretching and one day that rope will bring in the return of Christ. His return grows closer, day-by-day, hour-by-hour. One day soon, we will see all that we hope for when Jesus returns for His Church. Are you ready for the return of Christ? Do you have the God of all hope within your heart? You can give your heart to Him today and receive His forgiveness, eternal life, and the hope of God within your heart. Simply and honestly pray this prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, I’m sorry that I’ve sinned and that I’ve lived life selfishly. Please forgive me. Help me to live this life for you. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sin. Thank you for Your unconditional love for me. Please come and fill my Heart with your Holy Spirit. I give my life to you and I love you. Thank you for the hope I now have because of You. In Jesus Name, Amen.
In beginning your new relationship with Jesus, here are some steps that can help you grow closer to Him and allow for you to know Him deeply: Set aside a time each day to read your Bible (This is a sure way to lend our ear to Him and allow Jesus to speak to us through the Word of God.) In this time, and throughout your day, pray to Him... talk to Him.
